The ELD (Electronic Logging Device) mandate is fast approaching. 
On December 18, 2017 the mandate will be official and all commercial motor vehicles will have made the switch to electronic logging.
ELD’s will be used to electronically record a driver’s Record of Duty Status (RODS), which replaces the paper logbook some drivers currently use to record their compliance with Hours of Service (HOS) requirements.
Medallion Transport & Logistics’ parent company, Medallion Transport Holdings has worked diligently to research and implement an ELD program as required by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) for Medallion Transport & Logistics and its sister companies.
The mandate brings about a huge change in the transportation industry and with the help of company experts, Medallion has several solutions for its drivers.
Medallion Transport Holdings has invested thousands in ELD devices and will continue to invest in the transition in order to limit the expense to owner operators and freight agents.
Medallion Transport & Logistics owner operators have until Friday, October 6 to choose their preferred solution, as the company will take all drivers through a month-long learning period where drivers will run dual logs – both paper and electronic – as they learn the ins sand outs of the ELD.
The goal is to make the transition as smooth as possible and to help Medallion drivers take advantage of installed ELDs.
These devices can monitor and record a whole host of data about the vehicle and its driver that go beyond RODS — from Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR) and IFTA automation in commercial motor vehicles.
Many also integrate map and route solutions, which will help drivers navigate and avoid high-traffic routes.
